If kale is one of your fav leafy greens, then you definitely need the best juicer for kale! Incorporating this nutritive veggie into your kitchen repertoire can improve your health on multiple levels.
Yet, it would be essential to get more familiar with this amazing vegetable beforehand. Down below, you will see all of the benefits of consuming kale juice, the best time of the day when to drink it, and much more useful info!
What Are The Benefits Of Kale Juice?
All leafy greens are healthy but kale is, in my opinion, the king of them all. Although it wasn’t my favorite at first, I fell for kale juice once I discovered all of the benefits it offers. Here are a few.
1. Improves Overall Health
Kale features crazy amounts of vitamins – A, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, and vitamin K. It contains loads of calcium, magnesium, copper, and potassium as well. This wonderful unity of goodies can help you boost your immune system.
2. Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties
I am familiar with most leafy greens and various juices. Yet, kale seems to be one of the veggies that contain dizzy amounts of antioxidants. Also, it is rich in flavonoids that can reduce inflammations and prevent or reduce the negative effects of free radicals. Besides flavonoids, kale contains kaempferol and quercetin.
Antioxidants are important for the reason of eliminating oxidative damage cancer and other diseases can cause. Flavonoids, quercetin, and kaempferol have positive effects on lowering blood pressure, fighting off depression, and bacteria.
3. Encourages Cell Regeneration
As kale contains high amounts of vitamin C, it can also help your body’s cells regenerate. Vitamin C also encourages the synthesis of collagen. If you can spot a wrinkle or two, try incorporating kale juice into your diet. I managed to slow down the appearance of my forehead wrinkles this way!
4. Lowers Cholesterol
Our bodies digest fats thanks to bile acids. These acids are derived from cholesterol. Our liver is in charge of this process. Years ago, I was a fan of fatty meals. Eventually, this caused numerous health problems.
When your digestive system absorbs high amounts of fat, your bloodstream starts absorbing them. That’s what was happening with my body. I needed something that would hold my cholesterol levels under control.
I consumed kale juice for a while and realized my cholesterol levels went down. This all was thanks to bile acid sequestrants that reduce the risk of heart disease and also have antioxidant properties.
5. Protects the Eye
Over the years, our eyesight gets worse. I spend at least 1 hour looking at my phone each day. At a certain point, I experienced a sudden blurred vision.
Fortunately, kale juice contains lutein, carotenoid, and zeaxanthin, nutrients that can help with eye disorders, such as cataract and macular degeneration. Since I started consuming kale juice, my eyesight improved drastically and never got blurred again.
What Kind of Juicer is Best For Kale?
Once upon a time, I thought I could juice kale in either blender or juicer. Then, I realized extracting high yield is almost impossible with a blender.
While testing different juicers and different models, I learned a couple of important things. Now, it’s about time to discover the wisdom of kale juicing and 2 juicer models to you as well.
1. Manual/Hand Crank Juicers
If you are looking for a juicer at a discounted price, look for a manual model. In fact, I saw myself manual juicers work just fine with leafy greens and other soft ingredients.
Although these models come with a single auger and a handle you have to rotate, this operation doesn’t require much effort. Kale is quite easy to work with when you have the right unit in your kitchen.
With minimal heat buildup, manual juicers retain all of the nutrients in your kale juice. The only thing that could be a con here is that these juicers are, typically, a bit less stable. Just make sure to position it well before extracting the juice and you will have no issues.
2. Electric Juicers
You can choose between masticating and electric juicers, which are the two types of electric juicers. Me personally, I prefer masticating models but centrifugal juicers have their good sides as well.
2.1 Masticating Juicers
Masticating juicers make the best choice when it comes to juicing quality. Some people call them cold press juicers. Although electric, these juicers don’t generate much heat. Of course, this affects their speed, as they don’t go over 80 RPM (rotations per minute). Yet, when you are making kale juice, you don’t need an overly strong motor either.
Without the heat that destroys nutrients found in kale juice, you can reap all the benefits it provides. This way, you get the best yield and the best quality. Although masticating juicers are a bit more complex to clean and come at a higher price, they offer unparalleled performance when I compare them to centrifugal and manual models.
You can also check my blog about cold-pressed juice for further information.
2.2 Centrifugal Juicers
Centrifugal juicers come with sharp blades that shred ingredients to pieces and extract a decent amount of juice from them. However, as you already know, kale is a leafy green. This makes it quite tricky for the blades to shred it to pieces. On average, centrifugal juicers work best with hard-textured ingredients.
Using centrifugal juicers for kale won’t give you the yield you expect. Yet, these models operate at high speeds, which saves your time a bit. Noisy, a bit bulky, with strong motors, centrifugal juicers might be a good option for those who don’t want to operate the handle and don’t have the money for a masticating juicer.
Which One Is Good For You?
As you can already conclude, I am not a fan of centrifugal juicers when it comes to kale juices. Instead, I choose either manual or masticating juicers. Manual models are budget-friendly, easy to use and clean, and leave all the vitamins and oxidants in your juice.
On the other hand, masticating juicers make a better choice if you want a professional result – a higher yield of top-notch quality.

- Hurom HP – Best Juicer for Kale
- The Original Healthy Juicer – Best Manual Juicer for Kale
- KOIOS Extractor Machine – Best Masticating Juicer for Kale
- Bagotte Juice Extractor – Best Centrifugal Juicer for Kale

1. Hurom HP – Best Juicer for Kale
The Hurom HP is very sleek and looks great on the countertop but we are here today to talk about kale juicing, right? Well, this is also one of the slowest models available.
The slower the juicer, the better. This prevents heat buildup and retains everything you need in the juice. It features an amazing auger, way stronger than typical plastic augers.
Although you don’t need an overly strong auger for juicing kale, you might find this useful if you want to make frozen dessert, ice coffee, or crush nuts.
To make this model even safer for you, Hurom integrated safety sensors so the juicer doesn’t operate all until it is set on the base. It comes at a slightly above average price tag but this is something minor when compared to the amazing performance of this kale juicer.
Key Features
- Heavy-duty strainer,
- Built-in cooling system,
- Produces dry pulp.
What I Like
- Available in a few fashionable colors,
- Low-speed motor,
- Compact design.
What I Dislike
- Narrow feed chute (this is not a con if you need a juicer just for kale),
- Higher price point.
2. The Original Healthy Juicer – Best Manual Juicer for Kale
Kale juicing is a no-brainer operation, when you have a simple-to-use juicer. The Original Healthy Juicer is one of these models that takes very little effort to operate. Of course, as this is a manual juicer, you would have to rotate the handle but this requires almost no physical strength.
Manual juicers, like this one, are easy to install, assemble, disassemble, and clean. You will spend no more than 10 minutes juicing kale and cleaning the unit.
The Original Healthy Juicer is versatile and you can use it to juice kale, spinach, wheatgrass, parsley, lettuce, and carrots. Although it is plastic, it has a quite decent lifespan.
Key Features
- Works wonders with any kind of leafy greens,
- Doesn’t generate heat,
- Easy to clean.
What I Like
- Secure-locking suction base,
- BPA-free auger,
- Lightweight and portable.
What I Dislike
- Feels cheap, although it boasts decent quality.
3. KOIOS Extractor Machine – Best Masticating Juicer for Kale
KOIOS designed a multipurpose masticating juicer that meets the needs of above-average users. If you want an almost high-end juicer that comes at an affordable price, this one might be it!
The KOIOS juicer operates at 80RPM. This speed makes it just ideal for juicing various types of veggies and fruits. The powerful spiral system integrated into this model reduces the time needed to extract juice from different types of ingredients, especially from soft ones.
It does take some space on the countertop but looks very sleek. Also, it is backed up with a 10-year warranty on the motor and a 3-year warranty on parts.
Key Features
- 7-spiral system,
- Reverse function,
- Comes with several cleaning accessories.
What I Like
- Not as slow as other masticating juicers but still doesn’t generate heat,
- Quiet,
- Produces high yield.
What I Dislike
- The pulp is kind of wet.
4. Bagotte Juice Extractor – Best Centrifugal Juicer for Kale
Although centrifugal juicers don’t make the best choice when it comes to making kale juice, this one could be a major exception. This juicer comes with an electric motor that turns off automatically once the temperature reaches 105 degrees.
Just turn it to low speed when processing kale and you will be able to retain most of the healthy nutrients within your juice. Yet, it is suitable for juicing other types of veggies, such as celery, cucumber, as well as numerous fruits.
It creates no mess in your kitchen and comes with a 2-year warranty.
Key Features
- The wide feed chute,
- Overheating protection,
- Dual speed modes.
What I Like
- Made of BPA-free plastic and stainless steel,
- Safety lock design,
- Anti-drip function.
What I Dislike
- As it is lightweight, it makes a good choice for juicing kale and other leafy greens but it is not as stable for juicing hard ingredients.
5. Handy Pantry HJ – Best Heavy Duty Juicer for Kale
Manual juicers are a gift from heaven for people who like leafy greens. The Handy Pantry HJ juicer works amazingly with kale, spinach, and wheatgrass.
It is also well made and very durable. There’s no guarantee on this, but if you clean it properly and use it for leaf greens mostly, this juicer can last you a lifetime.
Although you should invest some effort in juicing, this model can truly provide a great yield for a manual model. By the way, it is super-easy to clean, too!
Key Features
- Slow but throughout the extraction,
- Dishwasher safe,
- Stainless steel construction.
What I Like
- This juicer doesn’t generate heat,
- Simple to assemble and disassemble,
- Heavy-duty for a manual juicer but still very portable.
What I Dislike
- Comes at a higher price than most manual juicers.
6. Aobosi Vertical Extractor – Best Affordable Juicer for Kale
The Aobosi vertical extractor is a kitchen-space sever. This compact juicer boasts an improved juice extraction rate so you can enjoy more healthy kale juice.
Operating at 45-60 RPM, it won’t destroy the nutritional value of kale or other ingredients you want to use. For instance, the Aobosi juicer works with both soft and hard vegetables and fruits, and it’s always good to have a good combo model in your kitchen.
This juicer never clogs, which is one of the most important things to look for when working with leafy greens such as kale, spinach, wheatgrass, etc. It takes very little effort to clean and comes with a bonus brush that makes this task even simpler.
Key Features
- Operates at 45 to 60 RPM,
- Safety lock,
- Reverse function.
What I Like
- Space-saving,
- Quiet,
- Made of TRITAN, BPA-free materials.
What I Dislike
- Best for occasional, not continuous use.
Kale Juicer Buying Guide
In this section, I want to share the most important features to look for in a kale juicer. This way, you can avoid making the wrong choice. No doubts, it won’t be difficult to find the one that thicks most of these boxes.
1. Juice Quality
You should always strive for the best taste and texture of your kale juice. Leafy greens are a bit different, not to say trickier, to process. However, masticating juicers can provide you with the smoothness you expect, and a few manual models as well. With as little foam as possible, you can enjoy the amazing quality of your kale juice.
2. Yield
There’s no point in investing a small fortune into a juicer that can’t give you a half a cup of kale juice. Seems like models with pricier tags can produce more juice but I managed to find some exceptions to this rule. The more yield you get, the better return on investment.
3. Motor Power
When it comes to motor power, we can talk about masticating and centrifugal juicers here only. Manual models don’t come with a motor.
You don’t need an overly powerful motor to make kale juice. The whole story gets different with root veggies, such as celery. I also wrote a guide on the best juicer for celery so make sure to check it. An average motor power would meet your needs if you want to make kale juice.
4. Speed
Masticating juicers have a slow RPM but you don’t need 14,000 RPM to extract juice from kale. Of course, a centrifugal machine could be a good choice if you want to make combination juices, not the ones including leafy greens and soft ingredients only.
5. Design and Construction
Masticating juicers are, typically, more complex to assemble and disassemble. Manual models are quite handy and include as many parts as masticating juicers. Centrifugal models are in the middle between these two types. Still, on average, it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to assemble and disassemble even the most complicated juicer.
6. Noise Level
Making kale juice typically doesn’t involve any noise. Although centrifugal juicers do make more noise when processing veggies and fruits, I could bear the noise when making kale juice. With manual models and masticating juicers, you will have your peace of mind in the morning.
7. Ease of Cleaning
Last but not least, I guess you don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen after making your juice. Some models come with different accessories that make them easier to clean. Others do require some time to clean. I tried to find those that are simple to disassemble and clean.
How Much Kale Juice Should You Drink a Day?
No more than half a cup. Although kale juice is healthy, it has low fiber content and can damage your kidney function.
Wrap Up
Do you know what is the best juicer for kale now? If you want me, I can suggest two models that could be good picks. Of course, the final choice is totally up to you!
The Hurom HP comes at a higher price point but offers unparalleled performance and ultimate extraction. If you want more nutrients-packed juice but also a sleek and elegant appliance in your kitchen, make sure to have the Hurom HP in mind.
On the other hand, the Original Healthy Juicer could be a good alternative for those looking for a budget-friendly pick. This manual juicer features a simple design, gives a high yield, and involves no heat so antioxidants and vitamins from your kale juice are safe.
