Just in case you have no clue about juicers, let me break down the 2 types of juicers and get you familiar with each. You can choose between fast and slow, or, in other words, centrifugal vs masticating juicers. It is possible to find great models in each category that come at reasonable prices.
And then, you have manual juicers that are most budget-friendly of all but you’ll have to involve some hand strength into making a glass of juice.
1. Fast/Centrifugal Juicers
A fast juicer is a beast. It tears through your ingredients with its share blades in the blink of an eye. I like it when I don’t have to prepare or chop up foodies before processing them. Fast juicers can take hard vegetables and fruits and extract a quite decent amount of juice.

Everything centrifugal juicers provide, masticating don’t. Take this as a pro and a con at the same time. For instance, you can’t have a glass of juice in 30 seconds to a minute. Make a juice with a masticating juicer today and consume it within the next 3 days. There’s no chance the taste of the juice will change during this time, which is a mission impossible if you are using a fast juicer.

When I was looking to buy my first affordable juicer, I was looking at its price only. What a mistake! Soon, I realized the performance matters much more than the price so I tried to find a juicer that can do both. Here’s what I taught about the most important features in a juicer besides its price tag.
1. Juice Taste and Quality
No matter how well-built a juicer is, you won’t like it if it doesn’t make delicious juices. Juice quality is the thing that determines the overall impression of a juicer.
Low-speed juicers do make a slightly better juice as they lose none of the good things – vitamins, antioxidants, and enzymes. A juice packed up with nutrients tastes yummy! A manual or masticating juicer may be a better choice in this case but it is still possible to find a centrifugal model that won’t spoil the taste of the juice.
2. Pulp Control
The amount of pulp in your juice can affect its taste, too. If you like smooth and pure juices, make sure to find a juicer that has the pulp separation function. With manual juicers, you have to separate the pulp with your hands.
3. Weight and Size
Electric juicers are, on average, weighty and bulky. Indeed, you can find compact juicers in these categories. For instance, a vertical masticating juicer could be a decent choice if you don’t have a lot of space on your countertop.
Manual juicers are designed with a couple of ideas in mind. They are lightweight, small, and portable, which makes them suitable to store or travel with. Take your countertop size in mind before reaching for a large, heavy juicer.
4. Noise Level

With fast and slow juicers, the machine does the extraction itself. Yet, sometimes you have to prepare the ingredients – peel them or chop them up before feeding the chute. Masticating juicers seem to be the most complicated out of these 3 types but that’s not a big deal when we take all of their benefits into account.
6. Cleanup
Trust me when I say juicer cleaning is an annoying task. Manual juicers are easy-peasy to clean and you can clean them under running water or in a dishwasher. However, with fast and slow juicers, you have several parts to disassemble before the cleanup, which you gonna have to take back in place thereafter.
